Junior Men – Sweep & Sculling

FOR SWEEP MEN:  The 8+, 4- & 4+ for the US Junior National Team will represent the the Junior World Championships in Trakai, Lithuania on August 2 – 6, 2017, will be selected from the Sweep Selection Camp.

This ‘invitation-only’ camp provides a development opportunity for high school boys who have birthdays in 1999 or later, have a 2K erg score of 6:20 or faster, 6:28 or faster for 2000 and 6:40 or faster for 2001 or younger and have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level.

FOR SCULLING MEN:  Only the 4x for the US Junior National Team will represent the the Junior World Championships in Trakai, Lithuania on August 2 – 6, 2017, will be selected from the Selection Camp.

CanAmMex 
An eight of rowers and coxswain will travel as representatives of the US to the 2017 CanAmMex Regatta.  These athletes will be a combination of age eligible Selection Camp athletes and potentially the top High Performance athletes.  

Invitation to Selection Camp will be made according to the following criteria:

  • Performance at the 2016-2017 Junior Identification Camps
  • Competition results during the 2017 season in 1x; 2x and 4x
  • 2016-2017 National Team Testing
  • Athlete’s ability to match the style and technique of the crew
  • Physical and physiological characteristics, e.g. Erg Scores: absolute and weight related
  • Results and other trials held throughout the year

At the discretion of the Head Coach, invitations may be offered to the following:

  • Top two M1x from Scholastic Nationals
  • Top two M2x from Scholastic Nationals
  • Top two M1x from Stotesbury Cup Regatta
  • Top two M2x from Stotesbury Cup Regatta
  • Top three M1x from Youth Nationals
  • Top three M2x from Youth Nationals
  • Top two M4x from Youth Nationals

There also will be a number of at-large invitations issued at the discretion of the Head Coach.

Invitations:  On a rolling basis, starting in early April

Camp Dates:  June 12th (Phase I), July 1st – Aug 6th (Phase II)

Location:  Phase I: Chula Vista, CA; Phase II: Chula Vista to Trakai, Lithuania,

Camp Cost:  $3290 (Phase I), $2890 (Phase II-Worlds) $2650 (Phase II – CanAmMex)
